1 Month of Inactivity!

Tomorrow i will embark on a 22-day Trip across Europe and will be away from the Internet most, if not all, of the time. I will also not bring any kind of Music with me. As soon as i arrive, I'll be leaving once again, to a place where there might be Internet access, even though i cannot know for sure. This is only a warning to everyone, i will continue Posting and this Site is not Dead. Every Link will be Re-Upped once i get back to my Computer and I'll be back to posting then.
So, have a nice Month and I'll be back in September, with new Sounds to share with the World.
Don't forget this Site and take the Time to check for older Posts, which even though they are poorly spelled, contain some extremely good stuff.
Red Greetings!

Edgar Broughton Band - Wasa Wasa (1969)

Wasa Wasa is the Debut Album by the English Psychedelic-Rock Band Edgar Broughton Band.
Originally a Blues Outfit, The Edgar Broughton Blues Band, which receive quite a lot of attention, only that their Fans were all based on their hometown of Warwick. They suffered their first split when the Blues stopped making sense to them and took it from their Sound and Name, leading to Victor Unitt's outrage at what he saw as the Band's Selling out and soon he left. By 1968 they decided to relocate to London, in a gamble to get a bigger and more diverse audience and a Record Contract, which they ended up getting, with Harvest Records, through Blackhill Enterprises Management, already by the very end of 1968. Their First Single, released in Mid-1969 was soon followed by their Debut Album which failed to Chart, unlike their next efforts. The Edgar Broughton Band played a series of Free concerts, creating an intense Live performance, often facing Police Intervention, much in the same style of The Pink Fairies, Anarchist Demons playing ferocious Sounds on their Instruments. As previously stated, this was just a Warm-up effort, the next ones would see them on the Big League.
Best Tracks - "Death Of An Electric Citizen", "Why Can't Somebody Love Me", "Evil", "Crying", "Love In The Rain". They Sound like a harder version of Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band, especially the Vocals, which are almost exactly alike. It is not the most fantastic Albums, and they do get quite lost in the overuse of Strong Riffs and not much composition. They are interesting and a good listen though.

Edgar Broughton Band:
- Edgar Broughton - Vocals, Guitar.
- Arthur Grant - Bass, Vocals.
- Steve Broughton - Drums.

Jefferson Airplane - After Bathing At Baxter's (1967)

After Bathing At Baxter's is the Third Album by the American Psychedelic-Rock Band Jefferson Airplane.
Jefferson Airplane's Second Album of 1967 saw the Band digging deeper in Psychedelic territory and moving further away from the more Popular kind of Songs, they did on Surrealistic Pillow. The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream were strong influences in this new sound, with an emphasis on the Guitar, which was now a lot louder and more prone to extended improvisations (the other Musicians also participated in said improvisations). The Songs were divided in Suites, each with its characteristics, they are also much different lyrically than the Flower Power focused Songs of the previous two Albums, with a clear reflection of the Band's Heavy use of Psychedelic Drugs and an influence of such Books as Ulysses by James Joyce. After Bathing At Baxter's was not a great success when compared to their other Albums at the Time, peaking at 17. The Cover is also famous, drawn by Ron Cobb, a flying machine drawn like it was an Haight-Ashbury Building.
Best Tracks - "The Ballad Of You And Me And Pooneil", "Young Girl Sunday Blues", "Martha", "Wild Tyme", "The Last Wall Of The Castle", "Rejoice", "Spare Chaynge", "Won't You Try/Saturday Afternoon". This is not their greatest Albums, not even in my top-three Jefferson Airplane List, but it is quite an interesting change in their work, a change that would continue in further Albums, like Crown Of Creation (now that is a fantastic Record). Enjoy it, i surely did.

Fairport Convention - Liege & Lief (1969)

Liege & Lief is the Fourth Album by the English Folk-Rock Band Fairport Convention.
Before the Release of Unhalfbricking, Martin Lamble, their 19 year old Drummer was crushed by the Band's Bus, along with Richard Thompson's then Girlfriend, just after a gig. The Band was completely appalled by what happened and considered ending the Band right there, fortunately being convinced to continue and instead, expand their Sound, focusing deeply in the Traditional roots of old Britain, in the same style of Sandy Denny's early works. For this expansion, Dave Swarbrick and Dave Mattacks were brought in to better accomplish it, and the whole Band moved to the Interior of England,  in Farley Chamberlayne, Hampshire, where they would be more connected with the Country life and sought to get back to the roots of the Country's tradition. The results took its toll, however, before the Album was even released, Sandy left the Band and Ashley Hutchings soon followed her path, in order to form Steeleye Span. Liege & Lief is one of the most important Folk Albums of its generation, maybe even the greatest Folk Album recorded during this Period. Some might even say that it is simply the greatest Folk-Rock to have ever been recorded. What can be said about it is: It is one of those strange moments in which for a small amount of time everything went better than expected and created a magical and wonderful thing, never to be forgotten again.
Best Tracks - "Come All Ye", "Reynardine", "Matty Groves", "Farewell, Farewell", "The Deserter", "Medley: The Lark In The Morning", "Tam Lin" and "Crazy Man Michael" (all the songs within the Album are the Best Tracks, they are worth it). Everytime I think of this Album I get a warm feeling inside, an extremely happy memory of the first time I heard it and how it marked me, how everything changed, the sheer beauty of it. It is definitively one of my favorite Albums and one of my fondest memories.

- Simon Nicol - Electric Guitar, 6-String And 12-String Acoustic Guitar, Back-Vocals.

Paul Kantner & Jefferson Starship - Blows Against The Empire (1970)

Blows Against The Empire is a Conceptual Album by American Psychedelic-Rock Musicians Paul Kantner & Jefferson Starship.
Jefferson Starship would only be formed 4 years after the Release of the Album, the name was chosen for a different array of reasons. Jefferson Airplane were on the verge of collapse, releasing only one single for the whole year of 1970, therefore Paul Kantner though it would be good to have a sort of rebirth of the Band (even if some of the Members were not invited to play here). The Personnel is composed mostly of Members from the biggest Acts of the moment, therefore forming a Starship, which also leads us to the last reason behind the name, the Concept of the Album features a Starship. The concept can be easily described as the story of the Hippie Counter-Culture. Attempting to reach Mind-Expansion and practice Free-Love, a group of Revolutionaries steal a Starship and leave the Solar System in search of a new Place to settle and leave according to the above mentioned goals. The Album was actually made by Kantner and Grace Slick, but it was decided to feature only him in the name. Crosby,Stills & Nash , Quicksilver Messenger Service, Grateful Dead and The Electric Flag all had Members playing in the Album.
Best Tracks - "Mau Mau (Amerikon)", "The Baby Tree", "Let's Go Together", "A Child Is Coming", "Have You Seen The Stars Tonight" and "Starship". Blows Against The Empire has achieved almost legendary status over the years. It reached Gold-Status and was even nominated to a Science-Fiction award. The whole ideals of the whole Hippie movement are reflected here. Their desires and anguishes. Apart from whole that there is also the Musical side, and everything with Grace Slick on it is just amazing, so with all the big stars that played here, this can only be a one in a thousand Album.

- Grace Slick – Piano, Lead-Vocals.

Principal Edwards Magic Theatre - Asmoto Running Band (1971)

Asmoto Running Band is the Second and Last Album (from this outfit) by the British Psychedelic-Rock Collective Principal Edwards Magic Theatre.
The Collective, a group of Musicians, Poets, Dancers and Lighting Technicians, was formed in the University of Exeter in 1968, when a quite big group of Hippies, with a quite good Education, joined together to do their Hippie stuff. Later they relocated to a Farmhouse in Northamptonshire. The Band had many Lyricists (David Jones, Gillian Hadley and Monica Nettles, and the Guitarist Root Cartwright) which contributed solely with their Lyrics. Their first Release was a Single in 1969, in John Peel's Label Dandelion Records, who had an interest on the Band since its beginning and went on to Release both their efforts. Their intricate Performances, with Acting, Dancing and explosive Light Shows was quite common when they started, but the Act had become obsolete by the Time they released Asmoto Running Band, and the Band as a collective broke-up, giving place to a Band dedicated solely to Music with a Shorter Name, Principal Edwards. This incarnation released one Album before fading away. It should be noted that Pink Floyd's Nick Mason Produced almost the entirety of their Releases, in both incarnation.
Best Tracks - "McAlpine's Dream", "McAlpine Versus The Asmoto", "The Asmoto Running Band", "Asmoto Celebration", "Total Glycerol Esther", "Freef (R) All" and "Autumn Lady Dancing". Hipgnosis were responsible for the Cover. Many of the songs resemble other acts from the time. Comus and Gong for example, especially Comus due to the use of the Fiddle. They are quite underrated, accused of not being able to age well, something which I strongly disagree with. They were a great act and made a great Album. Very good and worth the listen.

Principal Edwards Magic Theatre:

- Root Cartwright - Guitar, Mandolin, Recorder.
- Belinda Bourquin - Fiddle, Piano, Recorder, Vocals.
- David Jones - Percussion.
- Lyn Edwards - Percussion.
- Terry Budd - Drums.
- Roger Swallow - Drums.
- Jeremy Ensor - Bass.
- Joe Read - Bass.
- Martin Stellman - Vocals
- Vivienne McAuliffe - Vocals.

Tripsichord Music Box - Tripsichord Music Box (1971)

Tripsichord Music Box is the First and Only Album by the American Psychedelic-Rock Band Tripsichord Music Box.
When the Band finally released their Record, they already had spent 8 years working the California Circuit (formed in 1963). The Original Formation only managed to release one Singe before splitting-up due to their Singer's Draft to fight the poor Vietnamese. The remainders of the Band got together with a new Musician and moved to Los Angeles, calling themselves The Now. Los Angeles provided a chance for them to share bills with The Seeds and Strawberry Alarm Clock, and a new chance to record and release a Single (which did not fare well, as the first one). Faced with the lack of interest the Public was giving them, they decided to once more relocate and San Francisco was the place to go to. There they met Matthew Katz, the man who had brought Jefferson Airplane and Moby Grape to prominence, who got them signed to his Label San Francisco Sounds and insisted they would return to their original name, Tripsichord Music Box. Once again they failed to make an impression and the Band moved to Utah, where they finally broke up, some of the members going on to play Mormon Music and others going on to play on Moby Grape.
Best Tracks - "On The Last Ride", "We Have Passed Away", "The New Word", "Son Of The Morning", "Short Order", "The Narrow Gate" and "Fly Baby". It is a pretty decent Psychedelic Album, some of the Songs might sound a bit unoriginal but it is very well played with very good Musicians. By the time it was released Psychedelia was almost dead, so no wonder no one bothered to listen to them.

Tripsichord Music Box:
- David Zandonatti - Bass.
- Randy Gordon - Drums.
- Frank Straight - Guitar.
- Bill Carr - Guitar, Vocals.
- Oliver McKinney - Keyboards.
