Milton Nascimento - Travessia (1967)

Travessia is the Debut Album by the Brazilian Singer-Guitarist Milton Nascimento.
Milton Nascimento was born in 1942 in Rio De Janeiro, to a very humble single Mother. Milton's mother was a maid and worked with a quite rich family, in a big luxurious house, where Milton was taken to for a while, until Maria do Carmo (his mother) was fired. Unemployment in the 40's in Brazil meant hunger and poverty. When faced with this, Maria do Carmo, put Milton for adoption, and he was, by the same rich family that had previously employed before. When Milton was 18 months old, Maria do Carmo died. So the Adoptive parents took care of Milton's education, and as they were deeply connected to music, she was a music teacher and he was a radio station owner, Milton was taught Music from an early age. He was then taken to the town of Três Pontas in Minas Gerais. By the age of Thirteen Milton was already an occasional DJ in his father's Radio, a member of two Samba Schools and already played for audiences in Bawls and Parties. Early in his career he moved to Belo Horizonte and was one of the founders of the Clube de Esquina movement. After a Tv Appearance with the mythical Singer Elis Regina his career catapulted and in 1967 he released his Debut called Milton Nascimento (Travessia).
Best Tracks - "Travessia", "Três Pontas", "Irmão De Fé", "Catavento", "Morro Velho" and "Outubro". Travessia is a start of one of the best Musician's in Brazil's history. Milton Nascimento mixes Traditional Brazilian Sounds and Samba with a Classic Jazz feel. The lyrics are also very good, and it is a shame that there are many people who won't understand it due to language differences. it is not Milton's best but it is a Landmark in World Music.

Milton Nascimento (Travessia Personnel):
- Milton Nascimento - Vocals, Guitar.
- Luiz Eca - Piano, Vocals.
- Bebeto - Flute, Vocals.
- Ohana - Drums, Vocals.
- Dorio - Bass, Vocals.

Not releasing any more Albums in the next few weeks.

I was planing on releasing Albums continuosly this month, and for the most part i kept my promise, but something happened 4 days ago that forced me to stop doing so. My newest dog, who was only 6 months old died. It was not our fault, neither it was the vet's fault, it was nobody's fault. What happened was a rare event that rarely happens to any dog. She got the Parvovirus disease, which is EXTREMELLY harmful to young puppies. There are vaccines against it, which are mandatory in my country, and we vaccinated her as soon as we got her. Even so, she got the disease, which is also EXTREMELLY rare. The doctor who tried to save her had only seen one case in his whole life, and the doctor in front of my house had never even heard it was possible to happen. In only 1 day and a half, my dog died. On Sunday i had been with her (she was in my grandfathers house) and she was as she always was. Always running, bitting and jumping around. Next day when i woke up, my mother told me she was vomiting and was taken to the doctor. and finnaly in Tuesday, in the morning, i was told that she was in a coma with a severe whole-body infection. She died about 4 hours later.
As probably all of you know, the death of a pet is something that marks every one of us, but when the dog is so young and full of life and jst suddenly dies, just like that. Passes from a state of life to a state of death in a day and a half, it is even more painful.
Maybe i will post something before September, but i will probably only start posting, after the 5th of September.
Red Greetings.

Caetano Veloso - Caetano Veloso (1968) (Review by Blair Lucas from Yellow Matter Custard)

Hello. This is Blair from Yellow Matter Custard. I've been asked to write a review on the debut album of Caetano Veloso. Released In 1968. This album sparked the Tropicalia movement in Brazil. A movement that showed what was called a cannibalism of music and art. Taking everything from traditional Brazilian music and mixing it with everything from samba, boss nova To pop and psychedelic rock. Veloso, along with Gilberto Gil were the figureheads of the movement and would be there from the beginning to the fall when they were both arrested and exiled to England.

1. Tropicalia - The leading song, calling of arms of the movement. Velos spits the lines extremely over music that wouldn't sound out of place in a James Bond film. Caetano sings of leading a circus and I can't help but think that he means the movement in general here. The music starts with Jungle sounds and Veloso shouting before coming into the main song

2. Clarice - This nice little ballad isn't as crazy as most Tropicalia music, being mostly just a jazzy love song. The strings add a nice feel to the song and the chorus is very pretty.

3. No Dia Em Que Vim-me Embora - Opening with a very garage like organ the song soon moves into an uptempo. During a bridge the organ comes back in with a very loud tambourine and nice bongos keeping the beat.

4. Alegria, Alegria - The guitar makes this song. The music itself is a happy tropical song, but the guitar is heavy and distorted. It gives the music a contrasting feel that is really interesting.

5. Onde Andarás - Listening to this song, you can picture yourself relaxing on a beach somewhere. Of course, since I can't speak Portuguese, he could be singing about some terrible political happenings over ironically happy music and I have no idea.

6. Anunciação - Nothing much to write about this one. It keeps the happy tropical feel of the last two songs.

7. Superbacana - This is a really 60's pop feel. It eschews the tropical sounds for more of a British pop feel which is a really nice and needed change

8. Paisagem Útil - Really just another mediocre pop song. So far the album started out strong with the strange Tropicalia feel, but seems to stick to safe trad pop.

9. Clara - There we go. Flutes and a dancey tribal rhythm. Helps to get the album out of the boring rut it was in.

10. Soy Loco Por Tì, America - Mixing an almost samba beat with fluttering organ and great melody this song lifts the album up a great deal.

11. Ave Maria - Another trad pop song with Brazilian rhythm. Nothing really interesting except the almost atonal chorus.

12. Eles - The album finale. Opening with a bluesy guitar before moving into an almost Indian feel. This song slides around almost psychedelically with strange reverbed organ fading in and out of the mix here and there and guitar that wouldn't sound out of place on a Quicksilver Messenger Service song. This kind of stuff should've been done more on the album.

It really isn't as groundbreaking as I expected. I much prefer Gilberto Gil's music as I feel he had much more of an artistic mind, experimenting more than Veloso here. But you also can't deny the beauty of some of this stuff, as boringly traditional as some of it is.

Personal Favorites: Tropicália, Alegria Alegria, Onde Andarás, Superbacana, Soy Loco Por Tì, America, Eles.

Richie Havens - Something Else Again (1968)

Something Else Again is the Forth Album by the American Folk Musician Richie Havens.
Richie was the first of nine brothers, and he quickly started organizing bands in the streets where he lived (Brooklyn), by the age of 16 he was already a member of The McCrea Gospel Singers, which as the name said was a Gospel Group. Greenwich Village, one of the big centers of intellectuals in America, which became well known for being one of the trademarks of the Beatnik Generation (Jack Kerouac, Neal Cassidy, Allen Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs, were the major Beatniks). At the age of 20 Richie moved to the Greenwich Village in search of artistic inspiration. He had first came in contact with Greenwich when he went there during the Beat days to perform poetry. When he moved there he stayed two years drawing portraits in the street and staying al night listening to Folk Music in the Clubs around the area. It took all this until he decided to pick up a Guitar, and quickly his reputation overgrew the Greenwich circle of intellectuals and he landed a contract with the Verve Forecast Label which in 1967 released his Album Mixed Bag, which would be followed in 1968 by this Album, Something Else Again. It is not that different from the previous Album, which is quite good, the main difference is the inclusion of Keyboards this time it was used much more as a main instrument than in Mixed Bag, where it was mostly a sound on the background. The Woodstock concert in 1969, where Richie played for over 3 hours, due to lack of capacity to get the other musicians in the area, this led to a lot of attention being draw towards him, allowing him to continue his career for the 40 years that followed.
Best Tracks - “No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed”, “The Klan”, “Don't Listen To Me”, “Maggie's Farm”, “Something Else Again” and “Run, Shaker Life”. Something Else Again is a very good Album, even though it is quite less interesting and absorbing as Mixed Bag.

- Richie Havens – Vocals, Guitar, Sitar, Tamboura.
- Warren Bernhardt – Organ, Piano, Clavinet.
- Denny Gerrard – Bass.
- Don Payne – Bass.

Uriah Heep - The Magician's Birthday (1972)

The Magician's Birthday is the Fifth Album by the British Hard-Rock Band Uriah Heep.
Uriah Heep had its origin in 1967, in a small Band, with no real goal, just to play together and have some fun. Soon however they started having serious musical aspirations, as such they quit their jobs and went Pro, at the time under the name Spice (horrible name by the way). They started getting a good reputation and had gigs in the famous Marquee, where they were spotted by Gerry Bron and quickly signed to the Vertigo Records subsidiary, the Philips label. They soon found themselves in a Studio for recording, and it was then that they changed their name to Uriah Heep, as in 1969 the hundredth anniversary of the death of Charles Dickens was being commemorated, they kind of used it to their favor, and used a name from one of the characters from the Book David Copperfield. Quickly their Debut was recorded and released (it received mostly, awful critics, one reviewer even stated that if they made it, he would commit suicide). The Line-Up was in constant change, with new people entering and other leaving, and it was only on their first Tour, already after the release of the Second Album, that the Classical Uriah Heep formation was formed. The Third was the consolidation of the Sound and the Fourth can be considered their Masterpiece. They tried (some say they managed others that they failed) in their Fifth Album, The Magician's Birthday, to make another masterpiece, much in the same style of the precedent. The Magician's Birthday marked the turning point in Uriah Heep's career, from a good Band to one of the cornerstones of the Hard-Rock movement.
Best Tracks - “Sunrise”, “Spider Woman”, “Blind Eye”, “Sweet Lorraine” and “The Magician's Birthday”. It is a pretty good Album, with an amazing Cover, and it definitively is worth a listen, even if you are not a particularly Hard-Rock fanatic, because it is also a very important document in Rock history.

Uriah Heep:
- David Byron – Vocals.
- Ken Hensley – Keyboards, Guitar, Moog Synthesizer.
- Mick Box – Guitar.
- Gary Thain – Bass.
- Lee Kerslake – Drums, Percussion, Kazoo.
- Brian Cole – Pedal Steel Guitar.

A Euphonious Wail - A Euphonious Wail (1973)

A Euphonious Wail is the First and Only Album by the American Psychedelic Progressive Rock Band A Euphonious Wail.
A Euphonious Wail were deeply inspired by the sounds of the Hippie Generation, especially from around the San Francisco Area, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane and other Acid-Rockers from the time. Formed in Santa Rosa, California, information about the Band is scarce, not to say inexistent, well I will write what i managed to find on the inter-webs. In 1973 they got signed to Kapp Records, and started working on their Album. The Band was a quintet formed by Lead-Vocalist Suzanne Rey and Steve Tracy (who is also the Guitarist), Keyboardist Bart Libby, Drummer Doug Hoffmann and Bassist Gary Violetti. Supposedly Lower Levinger from the famous 60's Band The Youngblood, participated on the Recordings, produced by Brian Ingoldsby. And as soon as this Debut was released and it was evident that they hadn't made it, that nobody heard what they were doing, the Band quickly fell apart and all its Members fading into complete obscurity. In 1973, the sounds who were being heard were either Hard-Rock or the ends of the Progressive Rock movement, so it is no wonder that what the youth was looking for was nothing like this (maybe a bit). Michael Hawes was the Artist behind the Cover-Art, and what a Cover-Art! A Surrealistic draw, which can look like a brain, a body with it's tongue out, or just simply so pinkish matter in a Green Background.
Best Tracks - “Pony”, “We've Got The Chance”, “F#”, “Chicken” and “Love My Brother”. It is obvious that they could have had a chance back in the 60's but this was another age, and there was no space for this quintet to do their thing. It is a very good Album though, the musicians are all of them extremely good players and full of energy and creativity.

A Euphonious Wail:
- Suzanne Rey – Lead-Vocals.
- Bart Libby – Keyboards.
- Gary Violetti – Bass.
- Doug Huffman – Drums.
- Steve Tracy – Vocals, Guitar.

Steve Miller Band - Brave New World (1969)

Brave New World is the Third Album by the American Rock Band Steve Miller Band.
Steve Miller started his Musical career in 1965 in Chicago, where he had a Blues Band called Goldberg-Miller Blues Band with Keyboardist Barry Goldberg, and a couple of other musicians (Miller and Goldberg shared the leadership of the Band). The Band was starting to make it, they had a Record Contract with the Epic Records Label and had had quite a good deal of concerts in Festivals around the area. However, Miller dropped out of the Band and moved to San Francisco because as you all know, that was where the Thing was happening. Psychedelia was getting blossoming and San Francisco was the Music Capital of the age. In San Francisco he Formed The Steve Miller Blues Band, it was shortened as soon as they got signed to Capitol Records, in 1967, changing their name to Steve Miller Band. Soon they found themselves with a lot of concerts on their hands, backing Chuck Berry in Concert, a concert which ended being released, and playing in the Monterey Pop Festival, after which the Lineup was finally completed. During a Trio to England they recorded their Debut, it didn't receive any attention though when it was released in May, 1968, the Second Album is a different story, released in October of the same of year, it reached number 24 in the Billboard Charts and set off Steve Miller Band career. The Third Album, Brave New World continued their ascent to fame, reaching number 22 in the Charts. Brave New World, released in 1969, had the help of Paul McCartney in one of the songs, playing the Bass, and co-writing the Lyrics in other, he is not credited with a real name though (He also sings in ”Celebration Day” and “My Dark Hour”, the latter being the one he co-wrote).
Best Tracks - “Brave New World”, “Celebration Day”, “Can't You Hear Your Daddy's Heartbeat”, “Seasons” and “My Dark Hour”. Brave New World is not a fantastic Album, but the listening is easy and some tracks are quite interesting.

Steve Miller Band:
- Steve Miller – Guitar, Harmonica, Lead-Vocals.
- Glyn Johns – Guitar, Percussion, Back-Vocals.
- Lonnie Turner – Bass, Guitar, Back-Vocals.
- Ben Sidran – Keyboards.
- Tim Davis – Drums, Vocals.

Cold Blood - First Taste Of Sin (1972)

First Taste Of Sin is the Third Album by the American Jazz-Rock Band Cold Blood.
Cold Blood was another son of the Summer of Love in San Francisco, born in 1968. In 1969, through an audition they got to play in Bill Grahams Fillmore West, and so thus achieved some prominence. They got the Audition with the help of Legendary Singer Janis Joplin, who recommended them to Bill Graham, Janis had Vocals quite similar to Lydia Pense, the Lead Vocalist for Cold Blood. Another Band of the Northern California, Tower Of Power, got into a close relationship with Cold Blood, due to one fact that bid them both, the fact that they used a Horn Section as a prominent sound. In Fact some of the Members of the Band were also Members of the Tower Of Power. Moving on, Graham also signed them to his own Label called San Francisco Records (which had distribution contracts with two of the biggest Labels, Columbia and Atlantic), where they released their Debut in 1969 and the four Albums that would follow. The Founding Guitarist Larry Field left before the recording of First Taste Of Sin, which led to a bigger focus on such instruments as the Keyboards and Saxophone, giving a new Sonority to the Band, even though they had a Guitarist in the Recording. Still, they kept living on the shadows of Major San Francisco Acts, as Chicago and even Janis Joplin. Lydia Pence would continue to ascend to prominence and the Last two Albums were already called Lydia and Lydia Pense And Cold Blood, the latter was released in 1976, in which they they faded away for a Decade, not being heard of for all those years, until they returned in the Late 80's with a stable Formation since the 90's. Cold Blood plays mostly Festivals and Fairs in the California Music circuit.
Best Tracks - “Visions”, “Lo And Behold”, “You Had To Know”, “No Way Home”, “Inside Your Soul” and “All My Honey”. I don't know why but the Cover Photo looks always reminds me of Vampires. Always. Maybe because of the name of the Band, Cold Blood, as a certain Vampire feeling to it. This is a Great Album from a very good Summer Of Love Band. As most of them were.

Cold Blood:
- Lydia Pense – Vocals.
- Max Haskett - Vocals, Trumpet.
- Sandy McKee - Vocals, Drums.
- Michael Sasaki – Guitar.
- Mel Martin - Flute, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone.
- Bill Baker - Alto Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone.

Michael Yonkers Band - Microminiature Love (1968)

Microminiature Love is the First and Only Album by the American Hard-Rock Psychedelic Band Michael Yonkers Band.
Michael Yonkers was born in 1947 in Minnesota, picking up the Guitar in the Early 60's. Michael formed a Band called Michael & The Mumble, and as most starting Band, played in proms and parties, the Band would eventually turn into The Michael Yonkers Band, which featured Michaels Brother Jim, playing the Drums and Tom Wallfred playing Bass. Michael was an electronic expert and in 1967 he started working on his Telecaster and altered it to its very core, to provide him with an insane number of effects, very particular to that Guitar, generating a very individual and never before heard Guitar Sound. To add to the already very original Sound, Michael, during a gig, stumbled upon a Chord, extremely weird, but that he extremely enjoyed and worked pretty well with his weird Vocals. Peter Steinberg a Music inteupreneur in Minnesota managed to land them a Contract with Sire Records Label, and in 1968 they recorded this Debut. Sire Records ended up not releasing it, because they wanted Michael to go to New York and Re-Record it with different Musicians. Michael didn't accept it, and the Album ended up not being released, leaving it in the shelves for over 35 years. The Band ended, but Michael kept on recording and playing, in 1971 he had a Factory accident and broke his Back which forced him to undertake a load of surgical operations and ended with him a degenerative Spinal Cord Condition. Michael continued to issued Albums and in 1974 started releasing Solo Albums in his own Label. After that Michael disappeared from the Music Business for the next Decades, until in the Mid-90's De Stijl's Clint Simonson heard two of the Songs in a Compilation and went looking for Michael, ending with the Release of Microminiature Love by Sub Pop in 2002, and in CD in 2003.
Best Tracks - “Jasontown”, “Microminiature Love”, “Boy In The Sandbox”, “Puppeting” and “Kill The Enemy”. This Album is completely different from anything i have heard to this day, with a very dark and shady look to it. It was a great idea to finally issue this Record, and i am more than grateful that this one wasn't left on the shelves.

Michael Yonkers Band:
- Michael Yonkers - Guitar, Vocals.
- Tom Wallfred - Bass.
- Jim Yunker - Drums.

The Litter - Distortions (1967)

Distortions is the Debut Album by the American Garage Rock Band The Litter.
Formed in Minnesota in 1966, The Litter was a normal Band of the Genre, but the fact that they were formed in Minnesota (not that much Bands coming out of there) lent an hand to their partial success. In 1967 they released a single which got quite a nice amount of airplay when it was released, but was quickly put aside and forgotten by everybody after a while (This Single appears in the Debut). The Litter was a mesh between two local Bands and as many teens of the Area where heavily influenced by the British Rock movement, especially by the Yardbirds and The Who. The Debut is mostly constituted by covers from this two Bands and other Bands like The Small Faces. Distortions has grown into being one of the most influencing Albums of the Garage Rock movement and apart from being now a very sought after Album it has been re-issued numerous times. With the growing Psychedelic Musical movement, The Litter also moved towards the Acid Sound. With their Second Album, they focused more on compositions and Lyrics by themselves, instead of adapting other people's songs, around the time, The Litter did a thing that can't quite be explained by anybody, which was the fact that they turned down two proposals by Major Labels. Why they did so cannot be explained. Both Elektra and Columbia's proposals were turned down. For the Third Album however they did get into a Major Label, ABC, and replaced two of the Members, The Lead Singer and The Guitarist (Denny Waite and Tom “Zippy” Caplan respectfully), apart from replacing the Sound of course, moving towards a more commercial attitude in their third Album. And that was the end of it, during the 90's there would be some re-incarnations of the Band, with different Lineups.
Best Tracks - “Action Woman”, “Whatcha Gonna do About it”, “Codine”, “The Mummy”, “I'm So Glad”, “Soul-Searchin'”, “I'm A Man” and “Hey Joe”. The Cover is just absolutely astonishing, it is just absolutely impressive, without a shadow of a doubt one of the Best Covers i've seen from this time period, even maybe one of the Best Ever.

The Litter:
- Dennis Waite - Lead-Vocals, Keyboard, Blues Harp.

- Tom 'Zip' Caplan: Lead guitar, Back-Vocals.

- James Worthington Kane III - Bass, Back-Vocals.
- Dan Rinaldi - Rhythm Guitar, Back-Vocals.

- Tom Murray - Drums, Percussion.

Mahavishnu Orchestra - The Inner Mounting Flame (1971)

The Inner Mounting Flame is the Debut Album by the International Jazz-Rock Fusion Band Mahavishnu Orchestra.
Mahavishnu Orchestra set out to a territory almost unexplored, a territory with vast Jam possibilities, a territory where only Miles Davis had set foot, even though he left it at that (with his Album Bitches Brew, where both Guitarist and Band Leader John McLaughlin and Drummer Billy Cobham participated). McLaughlin, an experienced Guitarist, formed Mahavishnu Orchestra to discover all the beautiful Gems hidden in this unknown Land. With him he had Cobham who was a also experienced with this new Genre and an assemble of Musicians, one of them An Electric Violin player, which is not very common in Rock music. And the last addition, was an instrument. A 2 necked Guitar, with both 6 and 12 Strings. With everything ready, they set forth to the universe. Fully Instrumental, and with all the songs composed by McLaughlin, there was small space for the others to express themselves and tension inside the Band was very, very high. One of the songs was written for all the Band to play (Noonward Race), but as the Intro was being played, Rick Laird and Jerry Goodman started fighting fiercely with each other, sending Jan Hammers Keyboard flying through the air in the midst of the brawl. McLaughlin and Cobham continued playing all though it, and liked it so much, he ordered the others to stay outside and make the introduction of the song a Duo. The tension wasn't over when they released this Album and achieved quite a good deal of fame, in a Recording Session, after the Debut, some of the Musicians refused to talk to to the others, and in an interview after the Second Album, Jan and Jerry complained of McLaughlin Dictatorial powers, which ended in the first Lineup breaking up in 1973.
Best Tracks - “Meeting Of The Spirits”, “Noonward Race”, “Vital Transformation”, “The Dance Of Maya” and “Awakening”. After this record, hundreds of musicians tried (some did) the same, making this one of the most influential Albums of the Time. Santana was highly influenced by this Band as many other Musicians who were starting at the time. The name of the Band comes from McLaughlins studies on Oriental Cultures with the Indian Guru Sri Chinmoy, who gave the idea of Mahavishnu which means "Divine Compassion, Power and Justice".

Mahavishnu Orchestra:
- John McLaughlin – Guitar.
- Jan Hammer – Keyboards.
- Jerry Goodman – Violin.
- Rick Laird - Bass.
- Billy Cobham – Drums.

Jade - Fly On Strangewings (1970)

Fly On Strangewings is the First and Only Album by the English Folk Rock Band Jade.
Marianne Segal, a Folk Singer and Guitarist started her career in 1966, in the Folk Circuit of London. In 1967 she decided to bind her strength with Guitarist, and Banjo player Dave Waite, and form a Duo. Waite had had a minor Hit in the British Charts in 1962 with his Band at the time, The Countrymen. The Duo was in sync with the ideas of the time, and they too felt the need to create, and stop re-releasing old Traditional Songs. As almost all of them in the British Folk Music at the end of the 60's, Rock music was something to be cherished not hated, and new experiences were being made blending the two genres together. That was what Bands like Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span were doing, and that was what Jade did (even though their approach had a more Pop feeling in it). They Toured around the U.K. With the likes of Bert Jansch, John Renbourn and Sandy Denny. But Jade were not yet Jade, they needed one more Member, which they found through their manager Jon Miller, who was a partner to Dick James, a famous British Music Publisher. James gave them a Record contract with his Label, DJM. When they landed the contract the manager introduced them both to another Singer, Rod Edwards, who was also versatile with the Keyboards, completing hence the Band Jade. Quickly they started the Recordings of their Debut, with Manager Miller as their Producer, and with the help of plenty of Fantastic musicians, mostly coming from Folk Rock Bands. Michael Rosen (Eclection, Fotheringay), Pete York (Spencer Davis Group, Hardin & York), Terry Cox (Pentangle), Pete Sears (Les Fleur De Lys, Sam Gopal's Dream, Jefferson Starship), Session Drummer Clem Cattini, Mick Waller (Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart), Jimmy Litherland (Colosseum) and John Wetton (King Crimson, Family), all lent an Hand in the making of this Album. But despite all the help from these people and the fact that upon it's release, Melody Maker chose it as the Album of the Month, Fly On Strangewings failed. Jade disbanded in 1971.
Best Tracks - “Amongst Anenomes”, “Fly On Strangewings”, “Alan's Song”, “Bad Magic”, “Clippership”, “Reflection on a Harbour” and “Aways From The Family”. Marianne recorded a Solo Album some years after the break-up of the Band, but it never got released. A reissue was made some few years ago, allowing many people to listen to the Album for the first time, as the only copies until then were worth a few hundred dollars each.

Jade:
- Marianne Segal - Vocals, Guitar, Percussion.
- Dave Waite - Guitar, Bass, Back-Vocals.

Rod Stewart - Gasoline Alley (1970)

Gasoline Alley is the Second Solo Album by the English Folk-Blues Singer Rod Stewart.
Rod Stewart never had a troubled life. His family had money enough to provide him with a good childhood in the Suburbs of London. Rod was a great Football player and not such a good learner and at the age of 16 he quit school and started working. Rod had many different works, from gravedigger to playing in a 3rd division Football team, it was when he was playing that he decided that he should be either be a Football player or a Musician. He chose the last, because he could get drunk whenever he wished too. He jumped from one Band to another, either as a part time Vocalist or as an Harmonica Player. He reached notoriety for the first time when he played for the Jeff Beck Group as a Singer-Songwriter, even though he eventually left and followed his friend Ronnie Wood (who would later play for The Rolling Stones) to a re-incarnation of the British Band The Small Faces, now simply called Faces. It was during this time that he released his Solo Debut, An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down, in 1969, and in the beginning of the year 1970, The Faces released their own Debut, to contrast with the Album which Rod Stewart released with the Jeff Beck Group, the Faces Debut sold better in the U.K. than in the U.S.A. Rod, around the time, was producing a lot of Albums and in the same year released his Second Solo Album, Gasoline Alley, which is a great mix of Folk, Blues and some great Guitar licks.
Best Tracks - “Gasoline Alley”, “Only A Hobo”, “Country Comforts”, “Lady Day”, “Jo's Lament” and “You're my Girl”. A great Album, and for all of you who enjoy Rod's sandpaper voice, but not the Music he later became known for, this is surely a must. It does not resemble anything connecting those two different personas, Rod Stewart superstar and Rod Stewart Underground Musician.

Rod Stewart (Gasoline Alley Personnel):
- Rod Stewart – Vocals, Guitar.
- Martin Quittenton – Acoustic Guitar, Guitar.
- Ronnie Wood – Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Bass.
- Sam Mitchell - Slide Guitar.
- Ronnie Lane – Bass, Vocals.
- Ian McLagan – Piano, Organ.
- William Gaff – Human Whistle.
- Dennis O'Flynn – Violin Bass.
- Dick Powell – Violin.
- Stanley Matthews – Mandolin.
- Mick Waller – Drums.
- Kenney Jones – Drums.

Robin Williamson - Myrrh (1972)

Myrrh is the Debut Solo Album by the Scottish Singer and Multi-Instrumentalist Robin Williamson.
Robin Williamson lived in Edinburgh, and by the age of 15 he left the school he was going to and started to make a living as a Professional Musician. First he started playing in the Jazz circuit of Edinburgh, with some of the Musicians that would later play with him in The Incredible String Band. From Jazz he would move to Traditional Folk, which led him to meet Bert Jansch, and together they started sharing a flat in 1961, until again together, they moved to London to play in the growing Folk Circuit, in 1963, where Williamson would stay for 2 years until moving back to Edinburgh with Clive Palmer as a Duo. That is the Story of The Incredible String Band, signed by Joe Boyd to Elektra, Mike Heron added to the Band, in 1966. Until 1971 they were a quite friendly Band, but by the time Heron and Williamson started to grow tired of each other, each one of them wanting to push a little further in one direction or the other. The Incredible String Band starter deteriorating at that moment, culminating with the disbanding of the Band in 1974. Heron started first with, Smiling Men With Bad Reputations, in 1971, Williamson released his a little bit after, Recording Myrrh in December of the same year, only releasing it however in 1972. After 1974 Williamson would move to Los Angeles and dedicate his life to writing, during this time he released a Book about espionage called The Glory Trap. But Music once again called him and in 1976 he returned to the U.K. To form a Band called The Merry Band, which apart from touring extensively all over the United States, Europe and Canada, released 3 Albums.
Best Tracks - “Strings In The Earth And Air”, “Rends-moi Demain”, “The Dancing Of The Lord Of Weir”, “Cold Harbour”, “Dark Eyed Lady” and “Dark Dance”. Robin Williamson continued his career as a Storyteller and played extensively since then. Never abandoning the Music Industry. Myrrh is a Great Album, quite different from Heron's Solo Debut, instead of moving towards a more Rock Sound, this Album continues in the good old Traditional Folk Tradition.

Robin Williamson (Myrrh Personnel):
- Robin Williamson - Guitar, Chinese Flute, Vocals, Oboe, Jew's-Harp, Gong, Bazouki, Cello, - Violin, Piano, Bass, Flute, Guitar, Mandolin.
- Janet Williamson - Organ, Piano.
- Stan Lee Buttons - Organ, Pedal Steel, Bass.

The Band - Music From Big Pink (1968)

Music From Big Pink is the Debut Album by the Canadian Rock Band The Band.
All the members of The Band joined together for the first time progressively from 1958 to 1963, all of them playing in the backing Band of Ronnie Hawkins known as The Hawks. Ronnie was one of the most famous musicians in the Toronto Music Circuit, and he had the best Band in the area. How? As soon as a new Band appeared in the Circuit, Ronnie would check them and if there were any good musician he would hire him to his Band, circling himself of the Best of the Best. But it all came to an end when all the Musician grew tired of his Dictator attitude towards them. They weren't allowed to bring their girlfriends to their concerts and smoke marijuana. By 1964 The Hawks were threw with Ronnie, and started looking for another Frontman for them to Back-Up. They released some singles, under the name Levon And The Hawks, but they never achieved anything. Around the time, they talked to Sonny Boy Williamson, to see if they could play with him, but he was dead a few weeks after they had discussed it. At the same time Bob Dylan was looking for a Back-Up Band for his new Electric Repertoire. After playing with two Members of the Band, he decided to play with the entirety of them. Together they played the famous Basement Tapes in the Big Pink house (it was called like that because it was completely Pink on the exterior). The Band composed all their Songs there hence that name of the Album.
Best Tracks - “Tears of Rage”, “To Kingdom Come”, “Caledonia Mission”, “The Weight”, “Chest Fever”, “Lonesome Suzie” and “This Wheel's on Fire”. It didn't have much repercussion in terms of sales and with the Music consumers, but it was especially influent inside the Musician circuits, it got fantastic reviews and many great musicians were immensely influenced by this Album.
Levon Helm died on the the 19th of April, 2012, due to Cancer.

The Band:
- Rick Danko – Bass, Fiddle, Vocals.
- Levon Helm – Drums, Acoustic Guitar, Percussion, Vocals.
- Garth Hudson – Organ, Piano, Clavinet, Saxophone.
- Richard Manuel – Piano, Organ, Drums, Vocals.
- Jaime Robbie Robertson – Guitar, Vocals.
- John Simon – Horn, Saxophone, Piano.

Ancient Grease - Woman And Children First (1970)

Woman And Children First is the First and Only Album by the Welsh Psychedelic Hard-Rock Band Ancient Grease.
It is impossible to tell the story of Ancient Grease, without talking first of another Band, called The Eyes Of Blue. The Eyes Of Blue were formed in the early 60's, and had some minor successful Albums since they went Pro in 1966. One day while they were playing, a Band called Strawberry Dust was chosen to open their gigs. Strawberry Dust was a Cover Band that played in the South Wales Music Circuit. John Weathers, The Eyes Of Blue Drummer was so impressed by the shear energy displayed by those young man in Strawberry Dust that he quickly got them with a Record Contract with the Label The Eyes Of Blue were in, Vertigo (event though they later were moved on the subsidiary Mercury). Their name appeared on the Front Cover as Ancient Grease (even though the Members of Strawberry Dust didn't seem to know why), and that was how Ancient Grease was formed, from Members of both this Bands (The Eyes Of Blue lent an hand to the Recordings). Upon the release however, the Label decided to publicize the Debut Album of Rod Stewart instead of giving any attention to Ancient Grease. As soon as the Album was released, the Band returned to their old name, and went to spend some time in Hamburg, splitting up on their return home. Some of the Band Members continued in Music, playing with Racing Cars, Wild Turkey and Gentle Giant.
Best Tracks - “Freedom Train”, “Don't Want”, “Eagle Song”, “Mother Grease The Cat”, “Prelude To A Blind Man” and “Women And Children First”. Another Band that could have gone all the way, but whose chances were destroyed by shear coincidence.

Ancient Grease:
- Graham Mortimer (Morty) – Vocals.
- Graham Williams - Guitar.
- Jack Bass - Bass.
- Dick Ferndale – Drums.

Drum Circus - Magic Theatre (1971)

Magic Theatre is the First and Only Album by the Swiss Psychedelic Band Drum Circus.
Legendary Drummer Peter Giger decided to assemble a Band, but it was no ordinary Band. The Band was named Drum Circus, not because the Founder played the Drums, but because apart from Peter Giger there were two other Drummers on the Line-Up, Marc Hellman and Alex Bally. Two of the songs were written by the one and only, Timothy Leary, the LSD Guru, all the songs of course were inspired in the Buddhist Book Of The Dead ( A Book extremely influential in the subculture of the time, even though the other LSD Group, The Merry Pranksters, led by Kesey, did not pay as much attention to it as Leary's Group). Two of the musicians come from the Band Brainticket, Joel Vandroogenbroeck and Carole Muriel, which led Drum Circus to be kind of influenced by the same Band. The Sound of Drum Circus is filled with Eastern Instruments. Sitars are as much a part of the Band as the Guitars. A lot of parts of the Album are also not very close to Rock, but reaching almost an Acid Jazz sonority, very rich, with a great Horns section. The two guys in the cover are Peter Giger himself on the Drums of course and Joel Vandroogenbroeck playing the Flute in a Grass Field.
Best Tracks - “Magic Theatre”, “Now It Hurts You”, “Groove Rock” and “All Things Pass”. A very nice Album, and if you want to listen to some groovy, Jazzystic Psychedelia, plentiful of good playing and great Jams.

Drum Circus:
- Peter Giger - Drums, Percussion.
- Marc Hellman - Drums.
- Alex Bally - Drums.
- Joel Vandroogenbroeck - Organ, Flute, Sitar.
- Gerd Dudek - Sax, Flute.
- Isla Eckinger - Bass.
- Carole Muriel - Vocals.
- Polo Hofer – Vocals.

Santana - Abraxas (1970)

Abraxas is the Second Album by the American Latin Rock Band Santana.
Carlos Santana was born in the midst of a very Musical family, in Mexico, and by the age of 8 he already knew how to play the Violin and the Guitar. Their Family moved from a place to another, passing through Tijuana and ending up living in San Francisco. When Santana arrived there, he discovered a new world. He was able to see his favorite musicians play live, and a whole new musical and social movement growing around him. The Freaks! The Hippies! And for a Guitarist washing dishes in the midst of such intense activity is not an option, as such Santana decides to go pro on 1966. Through some accidental happening he ended up playing a Solo in Fillmore West which would bring him some prominence. The same year he assembled the Santana Blues Band, which quickly assembled a faithful following in the San Francisco Circuit. Bill Graham the owner of the Fillmore West, managed to get them booked at the Woodstock Festival, before releasing an Album. All of you have seen the footage... Their Debut would get to number four in the Billboard Charts and he was set to go. The Follow-up Abraxas, released in 1970, is considered to be the Masterpiece of the Band Santana.
Best Tracks - “Singing Winds, Crying Beasts”, “Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen”, “Oye Como Va”, “Incident At Neshabur”, “Mother's Daughter” and “Hope You're Feeling Better”. The Cover Art is a Collage made by Mati Klarwein named “Annunciation”, featuring a nude Black girl, in the midst of a Psychedelic Bonanza.

- Carlos Santana - Guitar, Vocals.
- Gregg Rolie - Keyboards, Lead Vocals.
- David Brown - Bass.
- Michael Shrieve – Drums.
- José "Chepito" Areas – Percussion, Conga, Timbales.

Matching Mole - Matching Mole (1971)

Matching Mole is the Debut Album by the British Progressive Rock Band Matching Mole.
When Robert Wyatt left Soft Machine, he quickly got together with other experienced musicians from such Bands as Caravan and Quiet Sun. Robert Wyatt, who provided both the Drums and the Vocals, was also the main composer and writer, only not composing two songs of the Album (one of which ended up being the trademark song of the Band, even though he did write the lyrics for that one, about his break-up with his girlfriend Caroline). The Band was fairly short-lived, forming in 1971 and breaking-up in 1972. They were quite quick in Recording, this Debut was released in April 1972 and the Second Album was released right in September, Produced by the Great King Crimson Guitarist Robert Fripp. But when the follow-up was released the Band broke-up, and some of it's members went on to search for another Musical Direction. Robert then prepared to gather some more musicians and release a third Album, but this idea ended when Robert Wyatt fell off a window in June 1973, leaving him tetraplegic and unable to play Drums anymore. This was not the end for Robert Wyatt who would go on a fairly successful Solo career in years to come. Matching Mole comes from the French Name of Robert's Band Soft Machine, Machine Molle.
Best Tracks - “O Caroline”, “Instant Pussy”, “Part Of The Dance”, “Instant Kitten” and “Dedicated To Hugh, But You Weren't Listening”.The Cover-Art is quite dull, two Moles in the style of a kid's draw, not at all showing what is inside the Album.

Matching Mole:
- Phil Miller – Guitar.
- David Sinclair - Piano, Organ.
- Bill MacCormick – Bass.
- Robert Wyatt - Drums, Mellotron, Piano, Vocals.

The Kinks - The Great Lost Kinks Album (1973)

The Great Lost Kinks Album is an Unreleased Compilation Album by the British Rock Band The Kinks.
The Kinks changed Labels. From Reprise Records they jumped to the RCA Label. Losing The Kinks was of course a great revenue loss at the time, so Reprise in an attempt to continue to capitalize the name, released this compilation, unauthorized by the Band Members. It consists mostly of Songs discarded on some sessions, the ones who weren't removed ended up appearing in the Album The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society, alias the name The Great Lost Kinks Album, was the name Fans gave to the Album that was supposed to be released in 1969 but ended up becoming the Village Green Preservation... But this is not the only source, some of them were recorded to appear in British TV and Films, and of course two songs from Singles. Davies and his crew only got to know of the existence of the Album when they saw it on the billboard Charts and they immediately sued the company, forcing Reprise Records to discontinue the Album in 1975. Of course right after this it became a Collector's Item, even though it stayed in circulation for 2 years. As the songs were recorded in a 4 year span it is hard to say who were the Members that participated in this Album. I'll just put the names of the Members of the Band that played at the Time.
Best Tracks - "Til Death Do Us Part", "Lavender Hill", "Rosemary Rose", "Mister Songbird", "I'm Not Like Everybody Else" and "Plastic Man". The Cover is pretty weird, and it isn't as good as most Kinks Covers. Some strange looking ghosts and some Neon Letters with the Name of the Band.

The Kinks:
- Ray Davies.
- Dave Davies.
- Mick Avory.
- Pete Quaife.

The End - Introspection (1969)

Introspection is the First and Only Album by the English Psychedelic-Sunshine Pop Band The End.
Formed in the Early 60's in London as The Innocents, who were basically a Back-Up band to some Solo artists of the moment. The Innocents were managed by a guy called Robert Stigwood, until the day he and his Label went bankrupt and finished their work. However before all this, they played with a small Band at the time, they probably all of you know. Their name was The Rolling Stones. Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts became good friends with The Innocents, and around that time Bill said that he would help them in any way i could, if they ever needed him. Some time later the Band split-up leaving the two remaining members the task to rebuild their Band. And so was born the Band The End. Through Bill they managed to open for the Rolling Stones on their first Tour, and lead them to record a Single, which did not hit any spot on the charts but managed to get some attention, this was in 1966. One day when they were playing in an hotel in Switzerland, a Spanish Talent seeker invited them for her Label. Needless to say, they were a huge hit in Spain. And in 1967, Bill invited to come back to England and Record an Album for Decca. From Christmas 1967-1968, they recorded Introspection, which drank a lot from the Stones Their Satanic Majesties Request. As soon the Album was recorded, they realized that it was not going to be released, and the whole Band fell apart. Introspection ended up being released in 1969. But it was already to late for it to flourish as it should have. Some tracks were even mistaken for being a lost Beatles/Stones collaboration!
Best Tracks - "Dreamworld", "Under The Rainbow", "Shades Of Orange", "Introspection" and "Loving, Sacred Loving". The Cover is quite weird. A huge photo of an eye inside a circle with a photo of the Band Members. It is a pretty good cover if you look at it, and truly see it, not just passing your eyes through it.

The End:
- Terry Tailor – Lead-Guitar.
- Nicky Graham – Vocals.
- Colin Grifin – Saxophone, Rhythm-Guitar.
- Nicky Hopkins – Harpsichord.
- Ken Leeman – Saxophone.
- Charlie Watts – Tabla.
- George Kenset - Voice on Bromley Common, Linen Draper and Jacob's Ladder.

Phil Ochs - I Ain't Marching Anymore (1965)

I Ain't Marching Anymore is the Second Album by the Folk-Protest Singer Phil Ochs.
Ochs Parent were married in Scotland, and while his father was studying medicine, and after being drafted and returning from the Second World War, where he served as a Doctor (he returned with deep psychological problems, and a strong depression). After that they moved to America where they hoped from one place to another, and so did Phil, spending his youth all over America. Early he showed great aptitudes towards Music, but at the time he never thought to follow such a career. When he finally reached University, he quit right after a semester, bored of it all, and went on a journey to California, where he was arrested for 15 days for sleeping in a park. It was in the midst of those days that he decided that he wanted to be a journalist and write. As such, he returned to the Ohio State University to graduate in Journalism. It was then that he started to get politically involved, becoming a great supporter of the Cuban Revolution and describing himself as a Socialist. In 1964 he released his first record and was acclaimed as the follower of Bob Dylan, in the Folk Movement but it was this Album, I Ain't Marching Anymore that proved that all that had been said was true. Phil Ochs is one of the best Protest Singers of his generation.
Best Tracks - "I Ain't Marching Anymore", "In The Heat Of The Summer", "Draft Dodger Rag", "That's What I Want To Hear", "Iron Lady", "Links On The Chain", "The Men Behind The Guns", "Ballad Of The Carpenter" and "Here's To The State Of Mississippi". Quite a Nice Photo on the Cover of this one. Phil sitting on the middle of the street with some ripped Posters near him, and a Peace Symbol graffited above him.

Phil Ochs (I Ain't Marching Anymore Personnel):
- Phil Ochs - Vocals, Guitar.

Panama Limited - Indian Summer (1970)

Indian Summer is the Second and Only Album by the American Psychedelic-Progressive Blues Rock Band Panama Limited.
The change between Panama Limited's Debut and their follow-up is as big as the ditch between the rich-class and the proletarians (yes, i used a Marxist analogy). The First one was undoubtedly a puritan Blues Album. The one's i don't usually like, Full-fledged Blues. Panama Limited Jug Band was their the name they used on that one, but for their Second Album, they dropped the Last two words, changed Vocalists, and went to explore the wild world of Psychedelia. Liz Hanns the First Vocalist, left, was exchanged by the new addition , Anne Matthews, which was a fine acquisition indeed, also adding Harpsichord and Percussion. More information about the i could not gather. They probably disbanded when their Second effort failed to make any kind of impact, as such finding an original (even finding a re-release is hard) copy is very difficult to get hold of. I can assure you that there isn't any other Album like this in any other place.
Best Tracks - "Moonshine", "Set Me Free", "Citadel Chapters", "Indian Summer", "Darkness Brings" and "Laughing". The Cover is very simplistic, a blue sky and a yellowish field with a women and a man walking, wether they were members of the Band i do not know. It is a decent cover nonetheless.

Panama Limited:
- Gary Compton - Harmonica.
- Pete Hozzell - Vocals.
- Ron Needs - Mandolin.
- Dennis Parker - Lead-Vocals.
- Anne Matthews – Vocals, Harpsichord, Percussion.

The Godz - Godz 2 (1967)

Godz 2 is the Second Album by the American Garage Rock Band The Godz.
Three fellows meet at their job in New York City, in a Music Megastore. Larry Kessler though some friends in Sam Goody's (The name of the Megastore) ended up becoming a Salesman for the ESP-Disk Label, Bernard Stollman was in search for one. All the three of them had already or were already involved in Music. Larry had released a Single in 1961 and the other two, Jim McCarthy and Paul Thornton were part of a quintet that played covers of several Bands. One day however the three of them went to see a concert by a new Band called The Fugs and it was an eye-opener. Jim and Paul quit their Band immediately, and one day by mere chance Jim was forced out of his home by his Ex and went to live with Larry, Paul visited them one day and while they were smoking some Weed in a room, they started playing mercilessly on the Percussion Instruments scattered around in the House. This spark ignited a full-fledged fire. And so they were set, to the Band they added the Artistic Advisor to ESP-Disk, Jay Dillon (Even though Stollman, reacted very badly to all this). Stollman who was still feeling resentful towards them gave them time to record one Single, but they as soon as they got there they started playing like mad, involving the Studio workers so much that some of them ended up joining and playing with them. A 2-hour Single recording ended up becoming an 8 Hour Album session. At first Stollman raged and cursed, but as soon as he heard what had come out of there, the Album was quickly released. Their Second one was a much more Musical Album, much more focused on the music, than the sheer raw feeling of the Debut. Jay after this decided to give it a quit, and after the remaining Trio released the Third Album, The Godz ended.
Best Tracks - "Radar Eyes", "Where", "Squeek", "Soon The Moon", "Travelin' Salesman" and "Permanent Green Light". The Cover is quite interesting, a Photo of the 4 Members, all with clean-cut hair and a look of innocence in them, it couldn't be more mistaking. Even though the colors, quite show a little madness, a glimpse of the madness inside.

The Godz:
- Jim McCarthy - Guitar, Vocals.

- Larry Kessler - Bass, Viola, Vocals
.
- Jay Dillon - Organ, Piano, Autoharp.

- Paul Thornton - Drums, Vocals.

Sweetwater - Melon (1971)

Melon is the Third and Final Album by the American Progressive-Psychedelic Rock Band Sweetwater.
Sweetwater's energy was unbeatable. They Toured extensively with every big act of the Age, The Doors, Big Brother and The Holding Company, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and Cream to name but a few of them. They played a gig in Woodstock, which has been a recipe for eternal fame is the days that run, not to count with all the big TV shows of the time. All this wasn't enough though. Melon was already an Album that had to be fought for in the Label, and when it also failed, they made a quick Tour and disbanded, even though they made some reunions, to play a Woodstock commemorative concert, some of the Members (The ones who hadn't died) were completely gone, so they had to be replaced, as no word of them was heard. Another factor was the accident Lead Singer suffered, being almost Fatal to her and that ended up damaging her Voice. She was hit by a Drunk driver (Legalize Marijuana!). I may have sounded negative, as though they were so bad, they never made it, but it is quite the contrary. Flute Lovers will absolutely adore the Album, and every who is up to some strong and never ending Psychedelic energy will too. Sweetwater is a great Band destroyed by casual coincidences, which ended up killing it.
Best Tracks - “Get It While You Can”, “Dont Forget”, “I'm Happy Today”, “Rejoice...The Smile Of Man” and “Take It From The Splice, Boys”. The Cover is quite nice, even though it might resemble an horrible Album, and if i didn't knew Sweetwater i would never choose it.

Sweetwater:
- Red Herrera - Bass, Vocals.
- Alex Del Zoppo - Piano, Keyboards, Harmonica, Vocals.
- Albert B. Moore - Flute, Vocals.
- Nansi Nevins - Vocals, Acoustic Guitar.
- August Burns – Cello.
- Elpidio Cobain - Conga, Percussion.
- Alan Malarowitz – Drums.
- Ricky Fataar - Drums.

The Sun Also Rises - The Sun Also Rises (1970)

The Sun Also Rises is the First and Only Album by the Irish Acid-Folk Duo The Sun Also Rises.
I do not know for sure the origin of the Duo's name, but being the name of both of them Hemingway, and being The Sun Also Rises a Book by the Nobel-Winning Writer Ernest Hemingway, i seriously think that this can't be more than a coincidence. The Sun Also Rises, was formed probably in the middle of the Sixties and broke up in the beginning of the Seventies. Only this Album was released, a Follow-up started being recorded but ended up being discarded, and never was finished, one of the Songs however can be listened to in the American Reissue as a Bonus Track, and in a The Village Thing Label Compilation, The Label they were signed to. The Saydisk Label was the one to re-issues the Album in 2007. The Sun Also Rises, has many similarities with The Incredible String Band, sometimes during a song you will swear you heard Robin Williamson's Voice. They are however not as Musically versatile as The ISB, but any fans of the Genre (and any fan of Mystical songs, about wizards and Knights) will surely enjoy listening to this. The Original is now a collector's Item as there are very few of them now.
Best Tracks - "Until I Do", "Taste Of Jesamine And Suicide", "Green Lane", "Flowers", "Song Of Consolation" and "Death". Now the Cover is quite basic and uninteresting, even though all that Orange may be inviting, it is no more than that, a strong Orange Background and some nice looking letters with the name of the Band.

The Sun Also Rises:
- Graham Hemingway - Vocals, Guitars.
- Anne Hemingway - Vocals, Dulcimer, Glockenspiel, Vibes, Percussion.
- John Turner - String Bass.
- Andy Leggett – Whistle.

Ian Matthews' - Matthews' Southern Comfort (1969)

In 1966 Ian Matthews' starts his career in London, with a Surf-Rock Trio called The Pyramids, which only released a Single, of which one of the songs was re-released in a compilation Album. However in the Spring of 1967, he departs from his Band when he receives an invitation of Ashley Hutchings to join his new Band Fairport Convention, as a Male Lead-Singer. At the time Fairport Convention drew heavy influences from the American Traditional, which kind of ended in 1969 when they were Recording Unhalfbricking, and Ian (during this time, he changed his name to Matthews' so people could distinguish him from the Ian MacDonald that played in King Crimson, and shared his named) was not invited to a session, after a brief discussion with Hutchings, he left the Band. But his friendship with the Fairport Convention was not over and he started recording his first Solo, with their help, amongst the many participant were Hutchings, Richard Thompson and Simon Nicol. The sonority is quite far from the one on Fairport Convention though, It is much closer to American traditions, with deep Country-Rock roots. Ian enjoyed deeply the Recording of the Album and decided to create a Band with the same name of the Album, which would release quite a few Albums, even though he last ones were without Ian himself.
Best Tracks - “Colorado Spring Eternal”, “A Commercial Proposition”, “A Castle Far”, “The Watch”, “I've Lost You” and “Once Upon A Lifetime”. The Cover-Photo maybe could be better if only that huge face of Ian Matthews' was removed, and all was left was the full body photo and the field behind him. But it is not a Bad Cover all the same, it is maybe too much crowded.

Ian Matthews' (Matthews' Southern Comfort Personnel):
- Ian Matthews - Guitar, Lead-Vocals.
- Richard Thompson - Guitar, Accordion.
- Gordon Huntley - Steel Guitar.
- Simon Nicol – Guitar.
- Pete Willsher – Guitar.
- Ashley Hutchings – Bass.
- Gerry Conway – Drums.
- Marc Ellington – Percussion.
- Dolly Collins – Keyboards.
- Roger Coulam – Keyboards.
- Poli Palmer – Flute.
