Day Of Phoenix - Wide Open N-Way (1969)

Wide Open N-Way is the Debut Album by the Danish Psychedelic, Progressive Rock Band Day Of Phoenix.
There is not much information on the Net about Day Of Phoenix. They were formed in 1968 in Denmark by three ex-members from a band called The Maniacs. Cy Nicklin, one of them left to join Culpeper's Orchard, but they were quickly joined by Hans Lauridsen and Erik Stedt and went on to record Wide Open N-Way in Copenhagen. They tried to sound as much as possible American, playing West Coast Psychedelia and singing in English. They went on to record another Album, but this one didn't receive as good critics as this one. It is great Psychedelia with some really interesting Jams on it. Be you interested on the Danish Psychedelic movement or in the overall Psychedelic style, this is definitively a record you should listen to.
Best Tracks: "Way", "Cellophane No. 1", "Cellophane No. 2" and "Mind Funeral". The Cover is quite peaceful and does not equal the interior of the Album, which is far stronger and vivid.

Day Of Phoenix:

- Cy Nicklin - Guitar, Vocals.
- Karsten Lyng Nielsen - Guitar.
- Jess Stæhr Nielsen - Bass.
- Ole Prehn- Guitar, Acoustic Guitar.
- Henrik Friis Nielsen - Drums, Percussion.

Crosby, Stills and Nash - Crosby, Stills and Nash (1969)

Crosby, Stills & Nash is the Debut Album by the American Folk-Rock Trio Crosby, Stills & Nash.
David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash were not beginners, all of them had already played in several Albums and in some important bands. David from The Byrds, Stephen from Buffalo Springfield (where he met Neil Young) and Graham from The Hollies. The Byrds dismissed Crosby in late 1967 and Stills left Buffalo Springfield in early 1968 and in the summer of the same year they were both playing together with some other musicians including Paul Kantner from Jefferson Airplane with whom they composed "Wooden Ships". Mama Cass Elliott thrown a party where all the three participated and after some improvisation they understood that they worked pretty well together. Nash quickly left The Hollies and joined the other two musicians. After being rejected by The Beatles Label Apple Records they were signed to Atlantic Records. They decided to instead of using a name of a band to use their names to prevent the band continuing if one of them left. Their second gig was at Woodstock 69'.
Best Tracks - "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes", "Guinnevere", "Wooden Ships", "Helplessly Hoping" and "Long Time Gone". The Cover-Art is quite nice, the photo is nothing great but there is something appealing on it.

Crosby, Stills and Nash:
- David Crosby – Rhythm Guitar, Vocals.
- Stephen Stills – Guitar, Bass, Organ, Vocals.
- Graham Nash – Vocals, Percussion, Acoustic Guitar.
- Dallas Taylor – Drums, Percussion.

Pink Floyd - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (1967)

The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn is the Debut Album by the English Psychedelic Rock Band Pink Floyd.
The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn is the first and only Album were Syd Barrett leaded Pink Floyd. It was recorded in the room right next to where the Beatles were recording their masterpiece Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club, and their producer Norman Smith had already produced several Beatles Albums. Many of the Songs were recorded in one take making the producer go mental, with that and with the supposedly lack of talent of the musicians to play their instruments. The Album is filled with strange songs, long freak-outs and jams, some really weird child-like Lyrics which all combines to an ambient characteristic only to this Album. There hasn't been another one like this and everyone understood that. Everyone praised it, the ratings were extremely high, still people said that it did not match the quality of their live performances, which is i guess even an higher compliment to them. Syd Barrett would eventually have the crackdown everyone knows about and was forced out of the band, maybe Pink Floyd would be a better band with him. Or maybe not.
Best Tracks - "Astronomy Domine", "Matilda Mother", "Pow R. Toc H.", "Interstellar Overdrive" and "Scarecrow". The Cover-Art is a quite nice composition by Vic Singh. The Photos of the members of the Band repeated various time to give it a Psychedelic look, quite an interesting Cover.

Pink Floyd:
- Syd Barrett - Vocals, Guitar.
- Roger Waters - Bass, Vocals.
- Richard Wright - Farfisa and Hammond Organs, Piano, Vocals.
- Nick Mason - Drums, Percussion.

Ars Nova - Ars Nova (1968)

Ars Nova is the Debut Album by the American Classical Rock, Baroque Band Ars Nova.
Ars Nova were formed in 1967, the origins of the name come from a Musical Stylistic period in the late Middle Ages which already reveals one of the characteristics that makes Ars Nova so good, The Baroque sound and the usage of old instruments meshed with the new and marvellous sounds of the Psychedelic 60's. They managed to get a contract with the Elektra Label and released their Debut on 1968. It wasn't a success even though it gathered some critics attention, benefiting from the Production of the Elektra workers, who were the top at their time. They even got mentioned in an article in the Life Magazine, but they didn't benefit from that. In 1969 they changed their line-up almost completely and released another Album, but they sort of lost the interest in the Baroque sounds that made them unique. The original members of the band went to play in some other records but none of them as Band Musicians only as guest.
Best Tracks - "Pavan For My Lady", "General Clover Ends A War", "Album In Your Mind", "I Wrapped Her In Ribbons", "March Of The Mad Duke's Circus". The Cover-Art is quite boring and non interesting, just the photos of the members band and some nice Medieval like letters.

Ars Nova - Ars Nova:
- Wyatt Day - Vocals, Guitar, Piano, Organ, Keyboards.
- Jonathan Raskin - Vocals, Guitar.
- Bill Folwell - Vocals, Trumpet.
- Jon Pierson - Vocals, Trombone, Bass.
- Giovanni Papalia - Guitar.
- Maury Baker - Organ, Keyboards, Percussion.
